Happy Fourth of July, music lovers! When it comes to Independence Day, there's a plethora of songs that tap into that patriotic (and rebellious) spirit that became anthems for many. From blues and jazz to rock and hip-hop, music has always been at the forefront of national celebration. We have created the perfect playlist to listen to this long weekend. Play it on your road-trip, at your BBQ, or in the middle of nowhere camping!

Here's a rundown of a few of our favorites, hand-picked by our Precious Sound team:

Ursina's Pick:

Fight For Your Right - Beastie Boys

This is a classic song by American hip-hop group Beastie Boys released as the fourth single from their debut album Licensed to Ill (1986). You could consider this song to be a protest tune in the sense that it is anti-conformity and anti-authority, but there really isn't any deep social statement happening.

Mark's Pick:

Rockin In The Free World - Neil Young

Surprisingly, Neil Young is Canadian but writes some amazing freedom anthems that Americans love. This song was released on Young's seventeenth studio album Freedom (1989).

Olivia's Pick:

Golden - Jill Scott

This is the first single released by American soul and R&B singer-songwriter Jill Scott from her third album Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2. It's a self-empowerment anthem that evokes a sense of freedom and gratitude for living a life where many are no longer shackled.

Listen to our completed playlist for all of your summer vacation music needs!
